Recently I had the pleasure of interviewing Ben Westwood, a local Singer/Songwriter to find out more about him, his music, his new single that was released on 9th November 2018 “Lady of the River” and his Album “Sing like your life depends on it”
Ben is a writer, a journalist, a lecturer, musician, comedian and a single dad to two.
Music has always been very important to him especially through the difficult times he has faced over the last few years.
“Lady of the river” is backed by “Howling”, an upbeat song with a jazz-rock feel, commenting on the craziness of the world at present. Both these tracks are fabulous and very different and the link below will take you directly to them.
In a recent press release when releasing “Lady of the River” Ben had the following to say about the record:
“We had a lot of fun making these new songs and it was a deliberate departure from the previous work. My album last year was a very intense, personal project. I’m very proud of it, but it’s time to move forward and the more upbeat songs I’ve been writing reflect that.”
Ben released his album “Sing Like Your Life Depends on It” in 2017, in partnership with bereavement charities, attracted local and national media coverage including BBC Sussex, Juice FM, The Daily Telegraph, The Brighton Argus and The Huffington Post. He has received a commendation in an international songwriting contest and has played at venues across the south-east, including the Brighton Dome, The Bedford and Ronnie Scott’s.
Some of the revues received about the album included:
“This is music with real emotion. Ben sings from the heart and touches your soul.” – Allison Ferns BBC Sussex
“Straight from the heart #nofilter, this is music that is honest and unafraid.” – Camilla Lake, East Sussex Newspapers
“The single Falling is excellent.” – Geoff Dorset, Express FM
Wonderful reviews I am think you will agree, and I am sure when his new album Coming up for air is released in March the reviews will be even better.
If you would like to see Ben he will be appearing in Concert at Printers Playhouse in Eastbourne on February 9th a link to the details for the concert are below:
I will, along with friends, be at the concert next month to see Ben, I hope that many of you will be too, it will be a great concert with a very talented singer and a lovely man.
